Not only will it extend out to allow for room to open your tent, it also allows you to extend it to clear your tires with your awning wall. If that's not enough it also is able to be removed in 45 seconds or less. This design uses pieces all purchased at Home depot with a cost of less than $150. The arms are made from steel square tube and the awning mounts are steel shelf holders. It is simple, strong, and versitile. The only down sides I can come up with are the weight and safety if you forget to lock the thing in place before you take off hitting the trails. I can't do it justice in an article.
